What makes the MiSight MAP™ platform different than other myopia calculators?
Most myopia calculators or myopia control calculators are designed with Eye Care Professionals as the primary audience. The SightStages® platform is different as it’s designed with myopia conversations in mind. In fact, it has been tested in many countries around the world with parents of myopic children to ensure the personalized myopia assessment is both easy-to-understand and creates an urgency to act.
Why should I use the MiSight MAP™ platform instead of other myopia calculators or myopia growth charts?
Firstly, it was designed and tested with parents and myopic children in mind, as opposed to the Eye Care Professional as the end-user. This means the platform is optimized to help guide effective conversations with real families in need of myopia management intervention. Second, the SightStages® platform is free and does not require costly medical device purchases to access it. If myopia management is to become standard of care, tools that grow the category need to be accessible by all.
Does the MiSight MAP™ platform use refraction growth charts or axial length growth charts?
The vast majority of Eye Care Professionals do not have an optical biometer to measure axial length. Further, numerous studies conclude that changes in refraction are just as predictive of myopic progression as axial length change. That said, to accommodate the largest number of practicing myopia management professionals, the SightStages® platform currently uses refraction growth charts.
